Moab Utah is a world renowned mountain biking destination in the heart of Utah's southeast. Known for it's close proximity to Arches National Park, Canyonlands, Dead Horse Point, the Slickrock Trail, the White Rim Trail and the La Sal mountains, Moab is a wonderland of outdoor recreation and scenery. This April, we've made Moab the home of a hundred scooterists for the sixth annual rally. This place is a scooterist's dream! Check out the he took a few years back at Dead Horse Point. So where the hell is Moab? Well, it's pretty much in the middle of nowhere, but not too far from major scooter capitals of the world like . Click on a city name or on the map and see mapquest.com directions. Print the directions. We’ve had several people get lost in year’s past ... it's hard to take the wrong road, but once you do you can get a 100 miles out of the way. I'm a real jackass, can I attend? Uhm, no. I hate to be a dick about it, but the last couple years I've spent hours babysitting. Hours I could have spent visiting with friends that drove a long way to be there. Sure you're welcome to play hard, but if you can't act like an adult and be respectful, you're not welcome. No excuses. End of story.
Food and camping are already paid for! It's really hard to reserve ANY camping ground in the Moab area, much less a place that can handle a group of more than 150 raging scooterists. I’ve reserved and paid for camping for all of us. Along with that, we will have meat and meatless BBQ with all the fixin's on Friday night. We're doing dinner early on Saturday in town so people don't have to go back into town (AKA drink and ride). Salt Lake scooterist Brantley scored Krispy Kreme as a sponsor and Benny Keele got a coffee shop, so breakfast doughnuts and coffee for everyone. Bring some snacks for lunch and something to drink and you'll be set for the weekend. You guessed it, the rally costs something. Not much, though. $10 per person includes camping, food, fun and festivities. This is not a moneymaking event. PayPal and before they’re printed. The design is my own with Series 2 TV175 on the front and a mud splatter on the back. Answers to the usual questions What's the weather like? It's the desert ... it can be really warm or really cold. Last year it was beautiful. About 85 degrees during the day and maybe 50 degrees at night. Bring fairly warm clothes and rain gear, just in case. A tent is highly advisable, besides, they're cheap and maybe it will encourage you to get outdoors more often. Bring sunscreen and sun glasses! Bring a gas can, too. There isn't a single gas stop on any of the rides, only in town. Are the rides hard? We’re not doing the Dead Horse Point ride this year … that was the hard one. All the rides this year will be easy, with the longest Saturday 70 miles round-trip to Arches NP. It’s really important that you pay attention to instructions so the rides go smoothly. There will be an alternative ride Saturday over the La Sal loop road. This WILL be a hard 110 mile ride for the hardcores. Is there liquor in Utah? Yup, plenty of it. There is a liquor store in Moab where you can buy the hard stuff, and beer is available at most stores. Check it out if you're there. Unfortunately, I can't supply any booze with the rally ... don't want to get tossed in the joint. So you're on your own for hooch, sorry. My advice is to bring your own because Utah taxes are stiff. Are there bathrooms and showers at the campground? Bathrooms, yes. Showers, no. The campsite is really clean and it's right on the Colorado River, if you want to take a dip. The river is fantastic! I was in and out of there all weekend last year. If you're feeling really grungy, there's a pay shower down the street for $3 or $4. I'm a weenie. Is there a hotel nearby? Yup, there are a bunch of them 7 miles away in Moab. You'll miss out on a great experience if you don't camp, but if you can't stand it, it's a better alternative to staying home. Moab is busy in April, so reserve your hotel room early! Rooms aren't cheap, either. Usually between $60 and $120 per night average. Check out or for all the hotels.
